Front kits

Progressive Suspension says its Drop-In fork lowering kits take up to two inches out of the front end without disassembling the forks or changing the oil, on most Harley-Davidson models with 39, 41 and 49 mm forks. It notes that the two-inch drop is not available on every model. Progressive's monotube fork kit comes with fork springs in stock and lowered versions, and the monotube lowering kit here is for the 2000 to 2017 Softail. Öhlins makes 25 mm fork spring lowering kits for Harley-Davidson Touring models, which sit inside the fork legs.

Rear kits

Progressive says its Softail lowering kits lower the bike by 1 to 2 inches depending on setting. It also says its fork lowering kits, combined with shorter than stock rear shocks, give a low, custom look. The Hyperpro lowering kits here include rear lowering spring kits and rear lowering link kits, each titled with the drop in millimetres, the make and, where there is room, the models it is listed for. Hyperpro says it does not shorten its springs to lower a bike: it designs a special rate spring whose first part is softer, so the bike is lowered by its own weight.
