Harley Davidson Luggage
A Tour-Pak is the box mounted behind the passenger seat on Touring models. King, Chopped and the newer Grand are the three lid families Harley-Davidson currently builds, in different sizes and different fitment years, and none of them ships with a lock that works out of the box. King, Chopped or Grand: Harley-Davidson Tour-Pak sizes compared
Harley-Davidson currently builds three Tour-Pak lids for Touring models. King has the largest capacity, 4,290 cubic inches (roughly 70 litres, our conversion, not Harley-Davidson's own figure), fitted to '14-and-later Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide and Electra Glide Standard models and select CVO models except a '25-later FLTRXRRSE variant; 53000775DH is the plain Vivid Black version on this shelf. Chopped is the same width but visibly lower, 3,285 cubic inches (around 54 litres), on the same fitment list, and 53000402DH is its Vivid Black equivalent. Grand is newer again, fitted only to '23-and-later Touring models, and it is the physically biggest of the three on every outside measurement.
Here's the bit that doesn't add up. Grand's own published capacity, 4,008 cubic inches, comes in lower than King's, despite being the larger box outside. Harley-Davidson doesn't explain the gap anywhere we could find, and we're not going to invent one. If it matters exactly how much you can get in a Grand versus a King, ask us and we'll check the real dimensions against what you actually want to carry, rather than trust a spec sheet that disagrees with the tape measure.
A Tour-Pak arrives without a working lock
King, Chopped and Grand are all sold as bodywork only. Harley-Davidson's own fitment notes for every one of them list a lock cylinder as a separate purchase, so a Tour-Pak fitted straight from the box will not lock, whatever you assumed when you ordered it. We don't currently stock that lock kit. We're an authorised Harley-Davidson dealer, though, so we can order one in. Ask before you fit the box, not after.
The mounting rack is the same story. None of the three lids comes with a way to bolt onto the bike; that's a separate purchase too, and which rack pattern goes with which lid is covered on our Harley-Davidson luggage racks range. Some model years need extra hardware on top of that: Harley-Davidson's own fitment notes call for a model-year-specific spacer or conversion-hardware kit on certain '23-to-'26 FLTRXSTSE and FLHXSTSE builds, so check your exact model year before you order.
A backrest pad is drilled to match one specific lid, not sold as one universal fit. A King backrest won't sit right on a Chopped or a Grand box. We stock two on this shelf, an Onyx Premium pad and a Sport Tour-Pak pad, and neither is drilled for King, Chopped or Grand. The Onyx Premium pad, 93300125, is a rider-side pad for Harley-Davidson's soft Premium Luggage Collection bags, not a Tour-Pak fitting. The Sport Tour-Pak pad, 52872-01, fits only Harley-Davidson's Sport Tour-Pak lid, a separate family we don't stock. A backrest pad matched to King, Chopped or Grand isn't something we currently stock; ask the parts desk and we'll check what's available to order in.
Liners are lid-specific too, and it isn't guesswork on this shelf: 53000323 is cut for the King, 53000322 for the Chopped, three inches shallower to match the smaller box. Fit the wrong one and it won't sit flat.
The 2014 Tour-Pak mounting change, and buying used
Harley-Davidson changed the Tour-Pak's mount at the 2014 model year, when the Touring range moved to what's usually called the Rushmore update. A box built before 2014 will not sit straight on a bike built after it without changing the mounting hardware to match. It matters most if you're buying a Tour-Pak separately from the bike, or moving one across from an older machine.
Older bikes sometimes still carry a Razor-Pak, a lower, slimmer lid Harley-Davidson sold for a few years and has since dropped from the current range. It isn't one of the three above, and we don't stock it new. If that's what's on your bike, ask before ordering a liner or a backrest pad for it. It isn't necessarily interchangeable with King or Chopped parts.
What goes wrong once it's fitted
Owners on Harley forums have reported a genuine snag on older boxes, from before the 2014 change: the hole moulded into the lid for an antenna-relocation cable doesn't come with a plug, and there's no Harley-Davidson part number for one either. Leave it unfilled and it's a way for water to get in. It's an old report, and we can't say whether it still applies to a current King, Chopped or Grand box. It costs nothing to check the hole is properly sealed when you fit one, old or new.
